Configure network Interface Using Command Line

sudo vi /etc/network/interfaces

For the interfaces file, put the content as the following:

# The primary network interface

auto eth0

iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.114
gateway 192.168.1.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
network 192.168.1.0
broadcast 192.168.1.255

After entering all the details you need to restart networking service using the following command:

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
